Here is the video that Im going to be working with.
I chose this video because I know how to make fast paced electronic music
and felt that racing is associated with alot of the same things as this type.
All of these soundtracks are going to be loaded up in my video program and I will replace all the audio already present in the project with my own and then change the video.
Ive applied effects to various different components of my soundtrack , mainly the bass though because I really wanted that to come through as a strong poweful part of the compostion.
Here is a photo of the VST instrument that I used for my Synth and Bass.
I picked the Lucky man Preset and began tweaking it till I was happen with it, I eventually
turned it into a rich and deep bass sound. This covered the low end of the song and gave it the
lower frequencies I was looking for but it needed more content so I added another halion and spend some time looking through presets and then eventually found a brass section preset.
This is a trumpet/brass type sound that I liked , I still changed it and tweaked it till It was pefect but it was a
a good sound to start with.
Here is a photo of the effects that I applied to these VST instruments
I used arpache to liven up the sound a bit and make it more intresting.
And I used Density to beef up the sound a bit and put some power behind it.
Once I was happen with my song I started mastering the track , balencing the levels and applying
EQ to all drums and VST insturments.
Here is a photo of the audio files that I recorded in the studio using the AKG microphone and the Allen and heath mixer , I edited them so that they fit my video better and also cut out any unnecesary audio so that it sounds cleaner and more proffesional.
At this stage the last thing I need to think about is recording my SFX soundtrack ,
I intend to do this by borrowing one of the "Zooms" from college and recording on location.
I need to record as many different cars going past as possible , Im also going to use my car to try and re-enact the sounds to the best of my ability.
The production was coming along nicely but I wanted to go the extra mile so
I added in left to right panning on certain parts of the video , for example when the
car comes across the screen (left to right)
I also automated the equaliser to give a lower frequency sound as the
car pulls out from the garage , the further the car gets from the garage
the lower the frequency gets.
Im pleased with the finished product and feel that Ive worked hard on the project.
If I was going to do this type of thing again , the only thing I would change is the equiptment that I used
although I managed to get some high quality audio recordings you can always get a better mic , better location , or a better studio and obsessing over the slightest details is the only way to you can come out with a product of a proffesional standard.
